Graphic Novels
A “graphic” novel may not be what you’re thinking! A graphic novel is an evolving term, but basically it is a type of comic book, usually with a lengthy and complex storyline similar to those in novels. Students love ‘em! They have finally become accepted in the mainstream as an alternative to their prose-packed counterparts. We have a bunch in the library on display now and plan to purchase many more. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. The strip pictured is from Art Spiegelman’s memoir, Maus: A Survivor’s Tale. In 1992, this graphic novel won a Pulitzer Prize Special Award.
